Lawn it! focuses mainly on installing instant lawn, which goes hand-in-hand with landscaping and garden layout. Supplementary to these, we also install underground irrigation systems as well as provide chemical weed control.
We supply and deliver instant grass which we will also install on your request. This is our main function from which, of course, the rest are emanating. We work mostly in Stilbaai and Jongensfontein as well as all surrounding areas.
The grass we provide comes from our farm just outside Jongensfontein where we carefully cultivate quality, healthy couch grass (Cynodon Dactylon).

We endeavour to supply grass around the year while stocks last, which we should be able to sustain, since we constantly cultivate new grass where sods are removed.
Although we don’t cultivate kikuyu ourselves, we can provide kikuyu should you prefer that. Our prices are competitive and, of course, depends upon whether we just delivered the grass, or also handled the installation.

Natural Instant Lawn Installation
Our key business interest is the installation of gorgeous, yet functional instant lawn. We skilfully cover up those open areas around your house with hardy, but soft underfoot, dark green couch grass or kikuyu, should you prefer.
Some of our instant lawn installations happen at newly built houses where any kind of garden still has to be established. In addition we also do installations at houses and other buildings with existing gardens, where a new owner might prefer to replace flower and plant spaces with grass. Or the new owner of an old house with damaged paving might prefer not to repair the paving, but rather replace it with cool green grass. The possibilities are endless.
Of course we will gladly install instant lawn on sports fields, recreational areas such as caravan parks as well as anywhere a lawn is needed pronto.
Furthermore we offer to replace damaged or destroyed patches of grass in existing lawns with fresh, healthy grass blocks. Lawn it! also has the equipment to aerate your lawn for you, should you wish.
First of all, before we physically lay the grass, we properly prepare the soil for planting. This means we do some tilling and churning and airing after which we level the ground. If necessary, we add retaining walls to prevent soil as well as water from running off.
When the ground is to our satisfaction, we pack or roll out the turf sods to completely cover the lawn area, leaving no gaps to prevent tripping. We then use the roller or a sod tamper to level the grass blocks and lastly we water the installed grass properly.
Within about a month a new lawn is normally well-established, but during this time you should water it regularly. A gorgeous lawn, of course, doesn’t happen per chance. It needs your attention all the time, but it rewards you with softness and a luscious deep green colour.
Fertilise, cut, (with a sharp blade and not too short!) water as well as aerate correctly. Also inspect for weeds, insects and disease regularly, and it will always be green, healthy and happy.

Landscaping & Garden Layout
For us, installing instant lawn very much involves landscaping and garden layout. We have only touched on the subject, though, when discussing our lawn installation services which means this discussion might slightly overlap.
When we refer to landscaping, we mean that we make your outdoor space more attractive. To do this, we may manipulate the terrain in various ways, such as adding pathways. Or creating terraces against a slope through building retaining walls.
To design the garden layout, we look at the size and shape of your garden. Our design for a flat piece of land will, of course, differ from that of a site against a slope, which is a common feature in this area. In fact, different areas need different types of layouts such as front yards, side yards, back yards, small areas, large areas, etc.
We will typically make use of trees, crushed stone of varying size as well as various types of stepping stones. Also different shapes, colours and sizes as well as material they are made of. Some examples are sleepers, flagstones, cement blocks, paving bricks, etc. We use an alternating mix of stepping stones, grass, crushed stone, etc., to create interesting eye catching patterns.

Mini Earthworks
We have a compact tractor loader backhoe, a machine that is designed for landscaping. It has a bucket for scooping and moving as well as a digging arm to excavate. This multitask machine has a lift capacity of 338 kg and a digging depth of 185 cm – perfect for mini earthworks in limited spaces.
We use our tractor loader backhoe for minor excavation jobs, digging small foundations as well as clearing small building sites. Likewise for trenching for irrigation lines, electrical cables, water pipes, etc. as well as holes for fence posts or planting big trees.
